Sports Manager
Background
Special Olympics Bangladesh (SOBD) is a non-governmental voluntary organization
dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports, health
initiatives and community engagement. Over the years, SOBD has made significant progress
in promoting inclusivity and providing opportunities for athletes to showcase their talents
on national and international levels. Special Olympics Bangladesh is an affiliate of Special
Olympics International (SOI) and is also registered with the Bangladesh NGO Affairs Bureau.
As the organization (SOBD) continues to grow and expand its programs, it will recruit an
efficient, energetic and dynamic Sports Manager. The Sports Manager has to play a pivotal
role in ensuring the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of sports programs,
training camps, and competitions. This position is crucial for enhancing the quality and
outreach of sports initiatives, fostering athlete development, and aligning SOBD’s efforts
with the broader goals of Special Olympics International.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and oversee sports programs aligned with the mission and vision of
Special Olympics Bangladesh. - Coordinate training camps, competitions, and events at the national and international
levels. - Lead and manage coaches, trainers, and volunteers involved in sports programs.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all team members.
- Support athlete recruitment and development by organizing talent hunt programs.
- Monitor athlete progress and ensure access to necessary resources and support.
- Build relationships with sports federations, schools, and community organizations to
enhance program outreach. - Collaborate with sponsors, donors, and partners to secure resources and funding for
programs. - Manage program budgets, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Special Olympics International guidelines and local regulations.
- Promote inclusivity in sports and advocate for the rights of individuals with intellectual
disabilities. - Represent SOBD at national and international sports forums and events.
Terms of Reference (ToR):
- Reporting to: National Director, SOBD, and through him to the Board
- Contract Duration: 02 years, renewable based on performance
- Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
- Performance Review: Evaluation based on program outcomes, athlete development, and
Partnership development
Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Sports Sciences, Physical Education, or related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sports program management, preferably in
disability sports - Excellent communication (English and Bengali) skills with computer knowledge
- Sports background and familiarity with Special Olympics programs will be an added
advantage
